With each jump in gas prices, the interest in more ecologically sound automotive choices becomes stronger. If it takes an empty wallet to drive the public -- and the manufacturers -- to do the right thing, then so be it.

And right now, at this special technological era, hybrid cars are the right thing. Oh electric and fuel cells will very soon replace the hybrid, without a doubt. But define "soon."

I personally don't want to keep driving that gas-guzzler while expecting the scientists, and manufacturers, and politicians to create a "righter" version.

The hybrid is far from a perfect solution. But it's closer than the standard combusion engine. And that is truly the right choice for the next few years.

So hybrids it is. Let's have a look at some of the technology and the car models involved in this monumental change in the way we transport ourselves around.
