Did Thomas Edison build a car?

I read somewhere that Thomis Edison built an Electric Car capable of some impressive number for both speed and miles traveled. Would any of you have any information on this? I've been able to find information about him working with Henry Ford but nothing that describes his car or anything of the sort.

This is just another one of those "Gas prices are too high, lets make people think the government can do something about it" things. No, Edison never made a car.
