You've got a really good point there. Al Gore is pretty hypocritical. I don't care about your stance on global warming, just think about it for a minute. This one man equals like 20 people when comparing "carbon footprints."

Geoff C: Really nice point about the carbon offsets! Carbon offsets are just REALLY expensive "credits" that ecomarxists are using as a karma scapegoat. Let's give a scenario: we have a farm in a rural area. This farm grows a TON of corn. Let's say that this corn is calculated to remove, I dunno, 20,000 lbs of CO2 from the air each year. Right now, that farm is doing that on its own. It's effect is positive, assuming you think global warming is true. Now here comes Greenpeace (or another weirdo organization that sells carbon offsets): "Farmer Joe, can we add your land to our list of carbon offsets? We'll give you $20!" Farmer Joe agrees, because, hey, who doesn't want a free $20. Now Greenpeace owns the "carbon offset rights" to that land. They add this to a big database of all the plants that they can use as carbon offsets. So some person who got guilted by the media logs onto the Greenpeace carbon offset site and they say: "Well, I've installed my dark, office-like compact fluorescent light bulbs (making my house look like a tomb); I've been conned by Toyota into wasting a few Gs on a weak, inefficient, and UGLY Prius; and I've completely stopped flying (instead I take the train for 50 hours to California!)...but after all that, I'm STILL a few thousand pounds of CO2 short! Well, guess I can get one of these carbon offsets." So this person who's been conned into "environmentalism" is doing the math, and they need to cover 1000 lbs of CO2. So they find out that that will cost...just $500 a year to offset! "Great! Charge it on my MasterCard baby!" Where's this $500 going? Probably more propaganda from the ecomarxist, as well as Greenpeace's nice, fat, wallet. I mean, after all, taking out the $20 they slipped Farmer Joe, they made a cool profit of $480 by sitting and doing squat. Nice job libs, you've got us all fooled!
