Electric Vehicle Science Olympiad

Electricle vehicle??..any ideas?
ok.. so science olympiad team is what i am wroking on.. umm i am building an Electric Vehicle...i need help..k thanks!!
depending on budget, and size of car, there are a variety of suggestions. if you give some additional detail I can help you more.
for a electric vehicle capable of transporting humans and stuff, I will assume you have a decent workable budget. first, the frame of the car. go from something light like aluminum tubing, it can be welded together to create a small two seater-type frame. a small car you can use as a model can be the smart fortwo (its a really small car). use of carbon fiber or fiberglass for body panels and floor of the car. for power, you can use either a high voltage low current motor or a low voltage high current motor. High voltage, either hi-tech batteries (found in Ev Cars) or ultra capacitors in series with master resistor. Low voltage, ultra capacitors and low tech batteries like marine deep-cycle or industrial batteries. a low voltage motor system will weight significantly more, but have better performance. a high voltage system weighs less, costs less, has a shorter range and less performance.
Ideally, if you go with high voltage, ultra capacitors (eBay, around $50-$100 each) are the best choice. A voltage like 96 volts or more with a gear box is ideal. it will have a high motor speed, to get workable torque you will need a gear box set that can reduce that speed to gain some torque. A massive high power resistor is needed to prevent overloading or burning out the motor, as well as practical safety. It should be around 250 to 1000 watts power rating.
most of the car can be built from salvaged car parts from a junkyard or salvage yard. like the transmission, the steering, the dashboard, tires, brake system, and controls (brake, gas, clutch, lights, etc).
additional systems, like regenerative braking and solar power recharging can be added if you have any money left over.

Olympiad $98.77 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. An Olympiad is a period of four years, associated with the Olympic Games of Classical Greece. In the Hellenistic period, beginning with Ephorus, Olympiads were used as calendar epoch. In this reckoning, the first Olympiad lasted from the summer of 776 BC to that of 772 BC. By extrapolation, the 3rd year of the 697th Olympiad begins in (NorthernHemisphere) summer 2011. Today, an Olympiad refers to a period beginning January 1 of a year in which the Summer Olympics are due to occur, and lasting four years. The first modern Olympiad began in 1896, the second began in 1900, and so on. The 29th began in 2008. An Olympiad, especially in ancient literature, was a period of four years. Example: Olympiad 140 Yr. 1 220/219 B.C., Yr. 2 219/218 B.C., Yr. 3 218/217 B.C., Yr. 4 217/216 B.C. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. History of the Electric Vehicle $125.85 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The history of the electric vehicle began in the mid19th century. An electrical vehicle held the vehicular land speed record until around 1900. The high cost, low top speed and short range of electric vehicles, compared to later internal combustion vehicles, led to a worldwide decline in their use. At the beginning of the 21st Century, interest in electrical and other alternative fuel vehicles has increased due to growing concern over the problems associated with hydrocarbon fueled vehicles, including damage to the environment caused by their emissions, and the sustainability of the current hydrocarbonbased transportation infrastructure. Electric Vehicle Battery $81.25 An electric vehicle battery (EVB) is a rechargeable battery used in electric vehicles, making them battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Batteries are usually the most expensive component of BEVs, although batteries from old or wrecked electric cars can be bought for batterytogrid minipower plants. The cost of battery manufacture is substantial, but increasing returns to scale may serve to lower their cost when BEVs are manufactured on the scale of modern internal combustion vehicles. Since the late 1990s, advances in battery technologies have been driven by skyrocketing demand for laptop computers and mobile phones, with consumer demand for more features, larger, brighter displays, and longer battery time driving research and development in the field. The BEV marketplace has reaped the benefits of these advances. Neighborhood Electric Vehicle $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Lowspeed vehicle is a federallyapproved streetlegal vehicle classification which came into existence in 1998 under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 500 (FMVSS 500). There is nothing in the federal regulations specifically pertaining to the powertrain. Lowspeed vehicles are defined as a fourwheeled motor vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg) and a top speed of between 20 to 25 mph (32 to 40 km/h). Those states that authorize NEVs generally restrict their operation to streets with a maximum speed limit of 35 or 45 mph (56 or 72 km/h). Because of federal law, car dealers cannot legally sell the vehicles to go faster than 25 mph (40 km/h), but the buyer can easily modify the car to go 35 mph (56 km/h). However, if modified to exceed 25 mph (40 km/h), the vehicle then becomes subject to safety requirements of passenger cars. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Modeling and Design of an Electric AllTerrain Vehicle $105.14 This book describes and evaluates the conversion of a conventional gasoline powered allterrain vehicle (ATV) to an electric ATV. Preliminary studies are performed to obtain initial power and torque requirements for the vehicle. A detailed simulation model of the mechanical load is written and compared to manufacturer supplied data. The load model is then combined with a comprehensive electronic drive and motor simulation using an electromagnetic transient simulation program (PSCAD). A prototype of the vehicle is constructed by selecting the main components, an electric traction motor, batteries and a custom motor drive, using the simulation results. The results of both the simulation and prototypes are compared and evaluated. SoftSkinned Vehicle $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In military science, a softskinned vehicle is any vehicle that is not armored. This includes trucks, motorcycles, jeeps and cars. It can also include Halftracks and scouting vehicles if they have little or no armor. Military science is the process of translating national defence policy to produce military capability by employing military scientists, including: theorists, researchers, experimental scientists, applied scientists, designers, engineers, test technicians, and military personnel responsible for prototyping. In so doing, military science seeks to interpret policy into what military skills are required, which, by employing military concepts and military methods, can use military technologies, military weapon systems, and other military equipment to produce required military capability.
