Electric Vehicle Systems

Can anybody understand why the infrastructure needs to be completely redesigned for different transportation?
We need hub centers like village that will allow small, cheap Electric Vehicles. Put more emphasize on the rail systems for heavy transport, more public transit etc. Think outside the box and forget about GM and such stupid corporations.
Sounds like another country - maybe we should just move?

History of the Electric Vehicle $125.85 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The history of the electric vehicle began in the mid19th century. An electrical vehicle held the vehicular land speed record until around 1900. The high cost, low top speed and short range of electric vehicles, compared to later internal combustion vehicles, led to a worldwide decline in their use. At the beginning of the 21st Century, interest in electrical and other alternative fuel vehicles has increased due to growing concern over the problems associated with hydrocarbon fueled vehicles, including damage to the environment caused by their emissions, and the sustainability of the current hydrocarbonbased transportation infrastructure. Electric Vehicle Battery $81.25 An electric vehicle battery (EVB) is a rechargeable battery used in electric vehicles, making them battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Batteries are usually the most expensive component of BEVs, although batteries from old or wrecked electric cars can be bought for batterytogrid minipower plants. The cost of battery manufacture is substantial, but increasing returns to scale may serve to lower their cost when BEVs are manufactured on the scale of modern internal combustion vehicles. Since the late 1990s, advances in battery technologies have been driven by skyrocketing demand for laptop computers and mobile phones, with consumer demand for more features, larger, brighter displays, and longer battery time driving research and development in the field. The BEV marketplace has reaped the benefits of these advances. Neighborhood Electric Vehicle $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Lowspeed vehicle is a federallyapproved streetlegal vehicle classification which came into existence in 1998 under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 500 (FMVSS 500). There is nothing in the federal regulations specifically pertaining to the powertrain. Lowspeed vehicles are defined as a fourwheeled motor vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg) and a top speed of between 20 to 25 mph (32 to 40 km/h). Those states that authorize NEVs generally restrict their operation to streets with a maximum speed limit of 35 or 45 mph (56 or 72 km/h). Because of federal law, car dealers cannot legally sell the vehicles to go faster than 25 mph (40 km/h), but the buyer can easily modify the car to go 35 mph (56 km/h). However, if modified to exceed 25 mph (40 km/h), the vehicle then becomes subject to safety requirements of passenger cars. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Modeling and Design of an Electric AllTerrain Vehicle $105.14 This book describes and evaluates the conversion of a conventional gasoline powered allterrain vehicle (ATV) to an electric ATV. Preliminary studies are performed to obtain initial power and torque requirements for the vehicle. A detailed simulation model of the mechanical load is written and compared to manufacturer supplied data. The load model is then combined with a comprehensive electronic drive and motor simulation using an electromagnetic transient simulation program (PSCAD). A prototype of the vehicle is constructed by selecting the main components, an electric traction motor, batteries and a custom motor drive, using the simulation results. The results of both the simulation and prototypes are compared and evaluated. Vehicle Fire $78.07 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A vehicle fire is an undesired conflagration (uncontrolled burning) involving a motor vehicle. Also termed car fire or auto fire, it is one of the more common causes of firerelated property damage. On average, there is a vehicle fire every 96 seconds in the United States. A motor vehicle contains many types of flammable materials, including flammable liquids like gasoline and oil as well as solid combustibles such as upholstery. Fuel leaks from ruptured fuel lines also can rapidly ignite. Vehicles house multiple potential sources of ignition including electrical devices that may short circuits, hot exhaust systems, and modern car devices such as air bag detonators. Vehicle Brake $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A vehicle brake is a brake used to slow down a vehicle by converting its kinetic energy into heat. The basic hydraulic system, most commonly used, usually has six main stages. The brake pedal, the brake boost (vacuum servo), the master cylinder, the apportioning valves and finally the roadwheel brakes themselves. A friction brake is a type of automotive brake that slows or stops a vehicle by converting kinetic energy into heat energy, via friction. The heat energy is then dissipated into the atmosphere. In most systems, the brake acts on the vehicles roadwheel hubs, but some vehicles use brakes which act on the axles or transmission. Friction brakes may be of either drum or disc type. SoftSkinned Vehicle $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In military science, a softskinned vehicle is any vehicle that is not armored. This includes trucks, motorcycles, jeeps and cars. It can also include Halftracks and scouting vehicles if they have little or no armor. Military science is the process of translating national defence policy to produce military capability by employing military scientists, including: theorists, researchers, experimental scientists, applied scientists, designers, engineers, test technicians, and military personnel responsible for prototyping. In so doing, military science seeks to interpret policy into what military skills are required, which, by employing military concepts and military methods, can use military technologies, military weapon systems, and other military equipment to produce required military capability. LithiumIon Batteries for Electric Vehicles $149.76 The increased sensibility on environmental problems and the growing price of oil have focused research during the past few years on reducing energy consumption. As for the automotive field, research is devoted to increase vehicle efficiency and reduce pollutant emissions. In that context, the increasing interest on vehicle electrification (HEV, PHEV, EV) brought manufacturers and researchers to invest significant resources in the research and development of advanced energy storage systems, particularly in advanced battery systems. The Book focuses on lithiumion technology because of its superior characteristics suitable for electric vehicles. Even if batteries are so common in daybyday life, thanks to portable electronic systems, the need to use them in EVs and HEVs has underlined new issues with respect to the ones already solved for mobile electronic systems. Characterization, modeling, StateofCharge etimations and disequalization phoenomena are the subjects of this Book. Author: Codeca, Fabio/ Spagnol, Pierfrancesco/ M.
