Is it ok if i run too much voltage in a motor?

I'm doing a project for a competition in a class, in which i have to build a transport vehicle that can move the most amount of weight in the least amount of time... my question is:

I bought an electric motor that is supposed to take a maximum of 14 volts. but the problem is, i want to get the most amount of power from my motor, but you cant buy a battery thats 14 volts easily. My idea is to run two 9-volt batteries into it. But that would go above the reccomended voltage by 4 volts. Do you think that would ruin my motor?

The increased voltage will give you more power but the motor will also heat up. This may not cause failure immediately, but it will likely cause insulation on the wire in the motor to eventually break down (melt) and your motor could burn out. Install a variable resistor (potentiometer) to control the voltage to your motor. This would allow you to vary (for greatest efficiency) the speed of your vehicle, and limit the voltage to the motor so it won't burn out.
