Possible electrical problem on Mitsubshi?

It rained last night and after the storm was over I thought I kept hearing thunder in the distance. This morning I still heard it. It was coming from the stereo of my car. The car was off, no key in it and the radio was making a static type noise and a boom, boom out of the back speakers. The car would not start. I called the Mitsubishi tech line and their only suggestion was to call the local dealership. The dealership said he's never heard of this on a Mitsubishi but he has on older Fords. He said it could be possibly that the fuse box gem box got wet and shorted out. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Left it on the charger and now it starts, the stereo appears to work but no sound. Go figure. I'll disconnect the battery next to see if that resets anything.

There appears to be nothing out of place or broken, so I don't think anyone tried to steal it.
