My friend who keeps her cars for 10 years bought a Toyota Prius. Was this wise?

I think she made a mistake because this Hybrid Car has parts that will break in a few years and it will be very expensive to fix and buy replacement parts. She's saving a ton on gas but she'll lose money in the long run because she'll probably keep the car for 10 years or more. What do you know about it or what do you think?
