Should I invest 10k in the Electric Car stock?

I believe that The Electric Car has future, but I am not sure if I should invest in the stock of the company that produces them. Stock of Zap code: zaap.ob or zaap.

I wouldn't.

They have never showed a profit of yet. They ROE and ROA are terrible.

I did notice that Al Yousuf has invested in this company last November. And the company directors seem to be buying their own stock which is a good sign.

But in the end the intrinsic value (based on history only of course) for ZAP is terrible.

Limit any investment to money you are willing to completely lose (and that should mean a very small amount). If it grows 33% in price, double your position...another 33% double that. If you are right you will make a pretty penny and still reduce your risk with a small intial investment.

One other good note is that London seems to be building an infrastructure to assist the electric car which is a strong sign when government backing is present.

But keep in mind that Honda is introducing a wide-market fuel cell car this year. So even if non-traditional cars take off, it would be hard pressed for ZAP to compete against Honda.

Too bad, because I like the company's dedication to alternative cars (they tinker in all kinds of options from electric to hybrid to fuel cells). It really sounds like an innovative company. But financially decisions should be made based on financial information and that information says to stay away...for now.

Good Luck...I'll keep an eye on them.
